His first human called him Themistocles.
The man was on guard duty in a water plant, and he spotted the cat, that used to hang around the water-works. The man liked the cat, and the cat liked the man, and they went along just nice, but the people in charge decided Themistocles could not stay.
The human therefore called upon an acquaintance, who worked as a volunteer for Freddy’s Cathouse: there was a feral cat looking for a home, he said.
So she went there, carrying a trap. Feral cats tend to be, you know… feral.
But not Themistocles. When Themistocles spotted the woman, he just ran to her, and jumped in her arms.
He was in pretty bad shape. He needed feeding, he was infested with lice and had a bad case of the flu. So the first stop was in the Bari Clinic, where they took good care of him. And after that, Freddy himself picked him up, and brought him to La Asonada – A Cat Dreamland. And there, the Cat Formerly Known as Themistocles, and now called Olly to us volunteers, surprised everyone, and instantly turned into the daddy and mommy of all the little ones in the colony.
The kittens love him, and he is in the habit of cleaning and preening them. Some even try and suck some milk from him. They are young, a little confusion is understandable.
Olly does not care. He acts like in every respect as a mommy cat. He’s just very sweet, and caring, and everybody, no matter if they walk on two of four legs, just adore him. Even the older cats like him a lot – and that’s not a given, because adult cats tend to be pretty uptight. Aisha and Maddie are crazy about him.
So when you come in La Asonada, Olly will be there for you, to give a quick licking to clean you up, and to purr you a welcome.
Every follower of Freddy’s Cathouse knows about Olly, and everybody knows he’s not up for adoption: he’s one of us.
